Event details
Nelly, our mechanical elephant, is at Radical Joy in Bradford!
Radical Joy is an exhibition at the Loading Bay, in Bradford, celebrating the outdoor arts in the UK. Celebrated amongst her peers, Nelly is surrounded by other giant puppets, extravagant costumes and fascinating parts of history.
Nelly was originally created by sculptor Jonny White for Runga Rung, a highly successful outdoor spectacle that toured the UK and Europe in the early 2000s. Produced by Emergency Exit Arts (EEA), the processional show brought together British Asian culture, Indian traditions, fire performance, Bollywood dance, Trinidadian Carnival and a magnificent mechanical elephant.
Runga Rung was produced by EEA Co Artistic Director, Les Sharpe and was directed by H Patten and Caroline England with music composed by Niraj Chag. It was funded by Arts Council England.
