THE ART OF THE MOKO JUMBIE:
The art of the Moko Jumbie takes its heritage from West Africa and the Caribbean and is very much a unifying force acknowledging the strong spiritual and cultural links between Africa and the wider diaspora. Having traveled from West Africa the Moko Jumbie finds its home in Carnival as a playful spirit watching over communities.
Emergency Exit Arts is working with Sunshine International Arts, who specialise in Carnival Arts and have a background in Carnival Traditions and the history of Moko Jumbies, creating costumes and working with Carnival artists and performers.
