Event details
On Saturday 1st October, for Lincolnshire Day join the harvest and immerse yourself in the tastes, sights and sounds of a free, new, event called ‘Edible Grimsby’ - being hosted in St James’ Square, from 12pm – 4pm.
Edible Grimsby is a pioneering event that reinvents the harvest festival for North East Lincolnshire! The community will come together memorable day that celebrates growing, cooking and sharing food. The event will include lots of tasty surprises as well as live music and interactive activities enabling the whole family to get creative. Featuring the first-ever ‘Collective Sauce’ made with ingredients donated by the community and created by local sauce-maker.
Come along and enjoy a ‘community feast’ offering free food tasters prepared by ‘community chefs’ along with community members from all over North-East Lincolnshire. Enjoy locally-sourced food and more produce from our traders. Dance to live music from ‘Made in Grimsby artists in the area and meet our quirky walkabout characters.
Edible Grimsby works in partnership with Green futures Grimsby and the Community Food Coordinator at Sector Support NEL, who are engaging communities across North East Lincolnshire delivering a series of community growing and cooking projects.
One of the results of this work is the Collective Sauce, made in partnership with local sauce maker and DJ The Beatroot Collective, winners of Great Taste Awards for their stellar Scotch Bonnet Jam. This sauce has been made with produce donations from the local community.
The sauce will be on sale on the day at the Beatroot Collective stall with free bottles available to those who have contributed to it.
