Event details
Emergency Exit Arts have been working with sculptor and performance artist Jessica Rost. Together we are working with recycled materials to form the central sculpture of the parade, Taravanya.
Taravanya, ‘Star of the Wild’ will emerge from Valentines Park, in search of new connections. Her environment is inspired by land and sea, with giant scallop shells and ink-marbled flora and fauna flooding the streets. The parade will come to life with sounds from vibrant samba drums and rediscovered objects.
There will be two parades during the day – a ‘relaxed’ parade taking greater influence from the sea, and a louder version, inspired by life in the jungle, accompanied by a percussion band using recycled instruments.
- Relaxed Performance, 11:30AM – 12:30PM (Boating Lake, Valentines Park)
- Full Parade, 2:30PM – 4:00PM (Melbourne Fields, Valentines Park to Ilford High Road)
The Relaxed Parade features minimal music, and no smoke effects for people who prefer a quieter experience.
The Full Parade features loud music and smoke effects.
