Lord Mayor's Show 2022 with Aldgate BID

EEA is working with Aldgate BID to create another vibrant, fun and sustainable float for the Lord Mayor’s Show 2022.

The inspiration for our float is the maths of arts and crafts. As a starting point we are referencing the Spitalfields Mathematical Society, founded in 1717. Fellows of the society were drawn from artisans and craftsmen such as weavers, apothecaries, brewers, ironmongers, and stockbrokers.

Members of the society were sons of weavers. We want to celebrate the areas rich connection with weaving and its connection to maths by creating woven pieces with the schools to decorate the float.

Our artists will run workshops with children from three local schools where they will work in groups making colourful circular pieces exploring maths through hands on creative learning.
