Boishakhi Mela

Event

Event details

Mela, music, magic! The Boishakhi Mela is back for 2018!

As the biggest Bengali festival outside South Asia, with over 40,000 people attending last year, this is a fantastic event to visit and be a part of.

Emergency Exit Arts (EEA) will be running the Boishakhi Mela Parade from Allen Gardens down Brick Lane to the main festival site at Weavers Fields to open the day’s events. The parade is inspired by the Land of the Six Seasons and will be a colourful celebration of the nature, activities and social traditions associated with each season in Bangladesh. Stay with us in the main festival site, specially decorated by EEA, where you can join in with arts and crafts workshops at the Mela Family Arts Zone as well as watch performances including dance, music, poetry and storytelling. This is an exciting way to engage with Bengali arts and culture. All are welcome but workshops will ideally be suited to those aged 6+.

11:00AM - Parade departs from Allen Gardens, Buxton Street, London, E1 5EH

12:00PM till 18:00PM - Boishkhi Mela in Weavers Fields, Derbyshire Street, London, E2 6HJ
