Behind the artworks...

The Art of Certainty

The term Islamic art not only describes the art created specifically in the service of Muslim faith, but its unique artistic language whose hallmarks include all over decoration and the use of vegetal and geometric pattern, such as Arabesque, among other forms creates an amazing and mesmerising illusion.

SPICE UP YOUR EID!

Green Street serves the wider community for food staples and is the place for South Asian spices. This workshop will focus on the ritual of food making and preparation as the starting point for art!

Artist – Sabba Khan

The materials produced by participants in the workshops were then incorporated into the banners designs by artist Sam Noble and Sabba Khan. The finished designs were then put to a panel of Newham council members and Green Street Locals for feedback.
